Aravan : A wonderful epic after a long time…

Aravan : A wonderful epic after a long time…

Vasantha Balan has stricked the winning chord again with his period epic “Aravan”, a story set in 18th century Tamil Nadu. The most important thing about the film is it has maintained a very good inter-textual relationship with its original Sahithya Academy Award winning novel “Kaaval Kotam” by Su. Venkatesan.

The film has an extraordinary casting which adds the real flavour to the content of the story. The film is supported by its ensemble cast who carry the film to this excellence.

The film basically has a very strong story of two clans in southern Tamilnadu. Sidarth’s cinematography has brought life to the 18th on the screen. The cleche of the regular Sepia tone in a period film has been avoided in the film which makes it colourful.

Pasupathy and Aadhi have done a great job all over the film, Karthik’s Background score adds more flavour to the film and makes the audience stay tight to the seat.

Vasantha Balan the captain of the ship has moulded every frame of the film with at most care and detailing. The locations, the sets, the casts, the dialogues everything has been moulded to the best. Barath and Anjali have done a neat special appearances which the story demands and not for just an item number.

The only drawback of the film is the second half lags a little due to the placement of songs and the mood the flashback has.

Please do watch the film…
